Rurssel Hamilton: The Sales Specialist Who Asks Before He Tells

Most salespeople start talking the moment you sit down.

They tell you about the product. They list the features. They explain why it is better than the competition. They have a script and they stick to it.

Rurssel Hamilton does the opposite.

He sits down. He waits. He asks questions. And then he asks more questions. He does not even mention his product until he understands exactly what you need.

He is a sales specialist based in Istanbul, working with B2B companies across logistics, software, and industrial equipment. His job is to close complex deals with corporate clients. But he does not see himself as a closer.

He sees himself as a problem solver who happens to sell things.

The Early Years Were Different

Rurssel did not start out this way.

His first sales job was at a call center. He was nineteen years old. He sold phone plans to strangers. He had a script and a quota. He made hundreds of calls a day.

He hated it.

He felt like he was bothering people. He felt like he was pushing something they did not want. He hit his numbers, but he did not feel proud of the work.

Then he read a book about negotiation. It changed his thinking. The book said that the best negotiators talk less and listen more. They ask questions that make the other person feel understood.

Rurssel tried it. He asked customers about their habits before he pitched a plan. He asked about their frustrations. He asked what they wished their current provider did better.

His conversion rate went up. His stress went down.

He never looked back.

The Socratic Method

Rurssel uses a technique he calls “Socratic selling.”

He asks questions that guide the client toward their own conclusion. He does not argue. He does not push. He just clarifies.

He asks, “What is your biggest pain point right now?” Then, “How much is that costing you?” Then, “What would change if that problem disappeared?”

By the time he explains his product, the client already knows they need something. He is just showing them the answer they have been looking for.

One client told him, “I felt like you read my mind.” Rurssel told him, “I did not read your mind. I just asked the right questions.”

He Specializes in Complex Sales

Not every salesperson can handle complex B2B deals.

The sales cycle is long. The decision involves multiple people. The stakes are high. One wrong answer can cost a company hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Rurssel thrives in this environment.

He studies the client’s business before the first meeting. He reads their annual reports. He looks at their competitors. He learns their industry jargon. When he walks into the room, he does not look like a salesperson. He looks like a consultant.

His clients appreciate this. They do not feel like they are being sold to. They feel like they are being helped.

His Digital Presence Is Understated

Rurssel is on LinkedIn. He posts twice a week.

He does not post motivational quotes. He does not post photos of himself in meetings. He does not brag about his deals.

He posts insights. Short breakdowns of sales tactics. Observations about negotiation. Stories about what he learned from a lost deal.

His writing is honest. He admits when he made a mistake. He shares lessons that are useful even outside of sales.

His followers are sales professionals. They read his posts because they learn something. Some of them become clients. Others refer him to their colleagues.

What His Clients Say

A logistics company owner said, “I met with five salespeople before Rurssel. They all told me why their software was better. Rurssel asked me about my business for an hour. Then he told me if I should even buy his product. I did not feel pressured. I felt informed.”

A manufacturing executive said, “Rurssel did not try to close me. He helped me think through the problem. By the end of our second meeting, I wanted to buy. It was my idea. He just guided me there.”

A procurement manager said, “I work with salespeople every day. Most of them waste my time. Rurssel is different. He respects my time. He respects my intelligence. He gets to the point.”

He Turns Down Deals

Rurssel turns down business.

If a client does not need his product, he tells them. If the problem is better solved by someone else, he recommends that other company. If the client is not ready to make a change, he suggests they wait.

His managers used to question this. Now they trust him. They see that his honesty builds long-term relationships. His clients come back years later. They refer him to their networks. His reputation is worth more than one commission.

The Next Step

Rurssel is writing a book.

It is about sales. But it is not a traditional sales book. It is about listening. It is about asking better questions. It is about treating clients like people instead of targets.

He is also starting a small coaching practice. He works with junior salespeople who feel stuck in the old way of selling. He teaches them his approach.

He does not want to grow fast. He wants to grow well.

The Bottom Line

Sales is not about persuasion. It is about understanding.

Rurssel Hamilton understands that better than most. He does not sell. He solves. And when you solve someone’s problem, the sale takes care of itself.
